About Hood
Hood is a story about an enforcer, a bad man, who in midlife has a Damascene moment, after which he wants out. The story is about his attempt to leave the organisation. He is a man looking for salvation, but he can't help himself because he is the best at what he does.
Hood is a taut and slick Crime Thriller centering around a day in the life of a hit-man, Stone, desperate to escape the clutches of the firm he is working for, and how he attempts to find a replacement for his job in the over-eager and reckless hood Don.
Shot on S16mm, the film's look and style took inspiration from British crime classics such as Get Carter, from the 70s, and The Long Good Friday from the early 80s. To maintain an immediacy and naturalistic feel the camerawork was kept mainly hand-held and dynamic.
The film was shot on location in Chiswick, London.
The sequel 'Stones's Legacy' is about his continuing struggle to escape the orgainisation and his own base urges. Driven by promises, and his own determination, to a final confrontation with unseen forces who have used him. His realisations of their motives and his own deep hidden fear bring the film to a tense and violent conclusion.
'Stones's Legacy is a full length feature film. A film we hope to produce in style of the great British Gangster movies 'Long Good Friday', 'Villain' and 'Get Carter'.
Entertainment journalist Ivan Waterman says about Hood:
"Writer/producer Michael Graves may well have found a new anti-hero for the future. His fast-moving, well constructed short, directed by Patrick Graham, has many intriguing possibilities...tough guy Stone looks as though he's ready to put a lot of mileage on the clock."
